Toby Chef School attendance hits a high

Toby Chef School attendance hits a high

Trentham Village Toby Carvery, Stoke on Trent has seen no fewer than 1000 children attend their Chef School during this academic year!

General Manager Guy Birch, ably assisted by Kitchen Manager Chris Taylor and team member Emma Wood, have welcomed on average two classes per week from all over Stoke on Trent since September 2011.

The Toby Carvery Chef School was established to offer school children a unique behind the scenes experience at its pub restaurants up and down the country by enabling them to meet a professional chef, learn about where food comes from and how it is prepared before it reaches the plate.

During each session the children learn about valuable vitamins and minerals found in fruit and vegetables, how you can tell the difference between a Dutch cucumber and an English one, and why coconuts are more dangerous than sharks! After the session each child eats a carvery lunch, often trying vegetables they had never tasted before.

General manager, Guy Birch said: "This has been a great opportunity for us to educate local children in an interesting environment and to give them the chance to taste a fantastic range of freshly prepared food. We hope that they will remember their experience and enjoy visiting Toby in years to come".
