Sponsorship of The Place

The Place - the leading contemporary dance organisation in the UK

As part of our community involvement programme, Mitchells & Butlers is pleased to be working with The Place - the leading contemporary dance organisation in the UK.

The Place has been a driving force for contemporary dance in the UK for over 40 years and is home to students, professional dancers and choreographers, nurturing artists from the earliest stage to mature world-class talent.

The Place is proud to house the Richard Alston Dance Company, London Contemporary Dance School, the Robin Howard Dance Theatre, an exceptional artist development programme, as well extensive learning and participatory programmes for a broad range of ages and abilities.

As part of our sponsorship, the Company will fund the Mitchells & Butlers Scholarship to support one individual training at London Contemporary Dance School and provide the student with the vital resources necessary to complete their dance education. The high physical and academic demands of the programmes, alongside the hours of training required, make it very difficult for students to hold part-time jobs.

In addition, Mitchells & Butlers will also be supporting the Something Happening for Kids event in July 2011. This is a programme dedicated to younger audiences and their families.

Stephen Clarke, Director of Development for The Place said: "With support from Mitchells & Butlers, The Place - Something Happening for Kids will offer a range of fun-packed dance events including magical installations and dance workshops for kids, alongside dance and circus performances especially created for younger audiences."
