Barnardo's Dragonboat Festival

Mitchells & Butlers is sponsoring The Brindleyplace Dragonboat Festival, in a bid to raise £20,000 for Barnardo's in the Midlands.

The spectacular event will see teams of thirteen, twelve paddlers and one drummer, race 40ft long Hong Kong style Dragonboats along the Birmingham canal from the cheered on by friends, colleagues and the public. It will be a knock out style challenge with the fastest team making it through to the next round, with prizes for first, second and third place.

Mitchells & Butlers has been working with Barnardo's for three year's through its corporate charity partnership and are pleased to be able to support this fundraising event taking place in its home town, Birmingham.

Kate Gregson, Marketing and PR Manager for the organisers, Brindleyplace Estate Management, said: "The Dragonboat Festival is one of our biggest and most memorable events of the year, there is something for everybody. Brindleyplace has decided to work with Barnardo's because we have always had a close relationship and we are very keen supporters in all they do. It is fantastic that Mitchells and Butlers are sponsoring the event which means more money for Barnardo's."

Victoria Crook, Barnardo's fundraising team, said: "Each team will raise £1,000 and the sponsorship money will help Barnardo's to carry on running projects in local communities working with children affected by poverty, disability, abuse, and life limiting illness."
