Bass Company Secretary

Bass PLC (Bass) today, 27 September 2000, announces that Spencer Wigley, Company Secretary has decided to retire. Richard Winter, currently Director of Group Legal, will succeed Mr Wigley as Company Secretary with effect from 1 October 2000. Spencer, aged 58, will become Chairman of the Bass Pension Funds from 1 January 2001.

Commenting on the retirement, Sir Ian Prosser, Chairman said:

"I would like to thank Spencer for his valuable contribution and sound advice to the Board of Bass over the last 8 years."
