Mitchells & Butlers celebrates PubChef Awards

Mitchells & Butlers was recognised at last night's PubChef Food Excellence Awards, winning the Food Concept of the Year category for Miller & Carter, its premium steak-house concept, as well as being a finalist for overall Pub Company of the Year.

The PubChef Awards aim to celebrate excellence in pub food, from applauding the achievements of individual pub chefs, to recognising the innovative companies behind many of the leading pub and pub restaurant brands in the UK.

Launched in 2006, the Miller & Carter concept is a premium yet affordable steak-house offer, appealing to customers enjoying both everyday and social occasions.

Mitchells & Butlers was also a finalist in the Pub Company of the Year category for the second time.  Having won this award last year, the Company narrowly missed out on the top spot again, which went to Orchid.

The Company was also pleased to see Tony Hughes, its former Managing Director Restaurants, receive the coveted Special Achievement award.  In over a decade at Mitchells & Butlers, Tony oversaw the successful development of leading brands such as Toby Carvery, Harvester, All Bar One, Vintage Inns and Browns, amongst others.

PubChef magazine commented: "Under Tony's guidance, Mitchells & Butlers has become the undoubted leader in pub catering, serving more than 100 million meals a year."
