Resignation of Board Director

Bass PLC (Bass) today, 4 September 2000, announces that further to the announcement on 22 August 2000 of the disposal of Bass Brewers, Iain Napier has resigned from the Board of Bass PLC as he has joined the Executive Management Committee of Interbrew SA.

Sir Ian Prosser, Chairman of Bass PLC said:

"Iain Napier has made a significant contribution to Bass over the past ten years. He has shown great leadership skills during his time as Chief Executive of Bass Brewers and especially during the disposal process. I thank him for all his support and wish him every success for the future."
