National Springboard Awards of Excellence

Vintage Inns are celebrating after winning a National Springboard Award of Excellence.

The annual awards are held by Springboard, who have been helping young, unemployed and disadvantaged people into careers in hospitality, leisure and tourism as well as working hard to help our industry attract new talent and address skills shortages.

The Vintage team scooped a win in the category for Best Food and Drink Strategy for its Strive For Five programme.

Strive for Five is a sales programme, aimed to increase average spend per head and penetration. In the last 12 months, every frontline team member has experienced a two hour interactive training session to improve their hospitality and sales skills. Team members have been working towards personal targets, with incentives along the way.

Other finalists on the night were Le Manoir aux Quat Saison, Rocco hotels, Pret-a-Manger and Hand Picked Hotels.

Nick Andrews, Brand Operations Director, Mitchells & Butlers said: "This is real testimony to all the effort that has gone into this initiative and all the people involved over the past 12 months. For me, the judges comments summed it up when they said that Strive for Five was clearly an industry leading programme with a very clear business and guest benefit - what more can you say".
