The Spaniards scoops top spot in Independent's Best for Sunday Lunch

Two of Mitchells & Butlers' pubs feature in the Independent's top 50 list of the best places to enjoy Sunday Lunch.

The Spaniards, in Hampstead, was voted top of the pile, famous for its quality food, range of beers and ales, and its beer garden.  A reviewer stated:  "When I've got the time, I love walking on London's Hampstead Heath, followed by lunch at the Spaniards Inn. It's a great pub, with a lot of history behind it and very atmospheric. A warren of low-ceilinged rooms and a fantastic beer garden rightly make this a hugely popular venue."

The Sheep Heid, located just outside Edinburgh, came tenth, with a reviewer stating:  "Positioned near the foot of Edinburgh's Arthur's Seat, just along from the bird reserve of Duddingston Loch and with its own traditional skittle alley, the Sheep Heid is the kind of pub that makes you think about indulging in some bracing activity before lunch. Whether you actually get round to it or not, try to end up here for good pub grub, Sunday roasts, decent real ales and, if you get the weather in the summer, a pleasant beer garden".
