Masterchef meets the Apprentice

Browns extends successful apprenticeship scheme

Following the success of Browns Bar & Brasserie's catering and hospitality management apprenticeship scheme in 2012, Browns, in conjunction with Apprentice 1st, has launched a second phase scheme to kick start career development and drive within the industry.

The stakes are high this year with the Browns apprentice and their mentor taking on the challenge of creating a future Plat du Jour dish for the Browns autumn menu, and with it, the title of Browns Master Apprentice and Master Mentor 2013.

Having been through a rigorous application process which has seen apprentices compete against each other at national heats and semi finals, the apprentices are now at the centre of the Masterchef Meets The Apprentice battle where both future careers and professional reputation will be on the line.

The very best apprentices will now compete against each other for the chance to be victorious at the Grand Finale, taking place in Central London on 3rd August.

Simon King, Retail Director for Browns said: "Our apprentices have already proven themselves to be dedicated and hard-working members of the Browns team, contributing to the success of the business over the last year.

"This initiative will help our apprentices gain confidence and provides a genuine career path into the catering industry."

Apprentice and mentor combinations will be judged on the key elements that were promoted through the initial phase of the scheme. They include, creativity of dish using core ingredients, balance of texture and taste, plating and presentation, cooking methods and menu suitability.
