Calorie information on menus

Mitchells & Butlers is one of the first pub operators to agree to publish information on the calorie content of dishes on the menus in two of our brands - Harvester restaurants and Scream pubs - as part of our involvement in the Food Standards Agency (FSA) initiative.

The trial, in around 25 of our businesses, will help to improve customer awareness of the nutritional content of a dish, at the point when they are looking to decide on their menu choice. Supporting this voluntary scheme will enable our Menu Development team to monitor customer reaction to the wide range of healthy options we serve and therefore expand our commitment to providing good nutritious food in our businesses

The FSA believe making calorie information available at the point of choice is the first and simplest step, which will lead to more clarity for people when eating out. The FSA is working closely with the UK's largest workplace caterers as well as, high street restaurant, pub, coffee and sandwich chains to encourage them to enable their customers to make healthier choices. By June, more than 450 food outlets across the country will have introduced calorie information as part of the initiative.
