Ember Inns team raise 50,000 for Barnardo's

Some 120 team members from Ember Inns recently joined forces to compete in the Bupa Great Capital Run to raise money for national children's charity, Barnardo's.

Ember general managers and members of the marketing and operations teams donned their running shoes for the 10km run through Hyde Park.

Senior marketing manager for Ember Inns, Matthew Deane, comments: "Ember Inns pubs are renowned for their fund raising efforts but never before have we attempted anything on such a grand scale.

"Every pub team has been busy collecting donations over the last few months with many going the extra mile by organising additional fund raising activities including sponsored runs and sofa sits to name but a few.

"I would like to thank everyone who got involved from those who organised the Ember team to the runners and most especially our guests who have showed fantastic generosity in helping us meet our target."

Colin Hawkins, retail business manager, who co-ordinated the fundraising efforts continued: "We set an impressive target of £50,000 to fund a short break for a group of disabled children and their carers and with the outstanding efforts of the whole team we achieved this target."

Barnardo's corporate partnership manager, Rachel Jones, added: "I would like to say a huge thank you on behalf of Barnardo's for the huge efforts which went in to making this fundraising effort possible. We have been genuinely touched by the extent to which both the pub managers and senior management team have embraced this campaign. The money raised will make a big difference to children at a grass roots level and everyone involved should feel very proud of what they have achieved."
