Local hospital benefits from Hardwick Arms fundraising!

The Hardwick Team presenting the cheque to Good Hope Hospital

Sutton Coldfield mums are benefiting thanks to the Hardwick Arms, Streetly, which has raised an incredible £16,000 for Good Hope Hospital in the last year alone.

The Sizzling Pub has been raising money through its popular Wednesday quiz night for the Maternity Unit at Good Hope Hospital over the last eight years.

Nigel Oseman, Kitchen Manager and quizmaster at the pub, said: "It is an absolute pleasure raising money for the hospital which is such an important part of our community. Lots of people who come to our pub have been touched by the care the Maternity Unit has given, and this is our way of giving something back."

"The girls from the maternity unit were invited as our guests of honour in a charity special and we offered them £50 a question, and they got 69 out of 70 correct. The pub then rounded this amount up to £5,000 and a regular added to that amount to a total of £6,000."

Maggie Coleman, Head of Maternity at the hospital, said: "We're so thankful for this pub and their regulars who are so generous. This money makes such a difference to so many mums and babies at our hospital."

"The maternity unit will put the money towards soft furnishings and little fridges in the rooms in the bereavement suite and recliner chairs in the antenatal unit for visiting husbands. The Hardwick has also previously raised much needed funds for a twin cot in the Special Care Baby Unit. Therefore, we decided to rename the counselling room on our bereavement suite the Hardwick Room in their honour."
