Mitchells & Butlers recognised at the first ever Carbon+ Awards

Mitchells & Butlers is celebrating after being one of the first companies to win a Midlands C+ Carbon Positive Award, for being among the regions ‘greenest' businesses.

The new awards, organised by Business in the Community and supported by Advantage West Midlands were presented as part of the Prince's May Day Summit event on 1 May in Birmingham.

Mitchells & Butlers won a Highly Commended Award in the C+ Carbon Positive Footprints category. The Company was praised for successfully cutting carbon emissions and internally managing our carbon footprint. The judges specifically acknowledged Mitchells & Butlers energy metering and measuring processes, as well as our waste-stream and recycling management.

This award recognises Mitchells & Butlers' aim to minimise the impact our business has on the environment. This commitment involves our understanding of, and responsibility for, the resources we use and the waste we produce.

David Darlaston, Regional Director of Business in the Community, was delighted with the response from the region. "This is the first year we have held the C+ Awards and we had over 50 entries, with the winners providing a clear indication of the quality, the innovation and the commitment clearly present in big businesses, small firms and community organisations."

He continued: "It is vitally important for our region to embrace the Carbon Reduction Commitment and these accolades will perform a dual role in promoting the companies who are leading the way and act as inspirations for others to follow."
