Mitchells & Butlers voted Most Responsible Pub Company
Mitchells & Butlers, the UK's leading operator of managed pubs, has been awarded the title of Most Responsible Managed Pub Company at the Morning Advertiser's Responsible Drinks Retailing Awards 2007.
The awards, hosted by trade publications the Morning Advertiser and Off License News, were devised to recognise the work and commitment of the on- and off-trade and to share best practice for the responsible retailing of alcohol, aligned to the Government's Alcohol Harm Reduction Strategy.
Mitchells & Butlers was recognised for its comprehensive staff training programme and for its established network of relationships with the police and local authorities across the UK. In addition, the Company was praised for its internal team of experts who drive, monitor and ensure Mitchells & Butlers' responsible retailing policies are implemented.
The judges also highlighted the Company's newly updated Alcohol and Social Responsibility Policy, which governs the responsible retailing of alcohol across the business and specifically the communication with customers on ABVs and units of alcohol.
The award was presented by Andrew Pring, editor of the Morning Advertiser, who commented, "The Company builds relationships with stakeholders from grass roots right up to the most senior Government levels. The sheer scale of Mitchells & Butlers' operation makes its total commitment to ensuring responsible drinks retailing throughout its empire deeply impressive."
Tim Clarke, chief executive, Mitchells & Butlers, commented, "Mitchells & Butlers is a company with responsible retailing at its heart. This award is excellent recognition of the successful and safe operation of our businesses across the country."
