Nicholson's Pubs toast signature pale ale

Nicholson's Pubs will be celebrating the birthday of its signature branded ale - Nicholson's Pale Ale - with a range of special offers, promotional offers, sampling sessions and Meet the Brewer activity on Friday 9th May. The festivities will take place across its 77 pub estate to celebrate what has become the brand's best selling beer.

Renowned for its unrivalled selection of quality ales, Nicholson's launched its own branded beer two years ago and chose to work with the award winning St Austell brewery who shares its historic drive in delivering quality beer. Together they created an easy to drink 'tasty sessional beer' which has become Nicholson's best selling beer across the estate and now is a key brand in the St Austell portfolio amongst the iconic Tribute and Proper Job beers.

Nicholson's will be running Facebook competitions for chances to win exclusive commemorative T-shirt giveaways during week commencing the 5th May. During the main event on the Friday, guests can revel in celebration with free samples of Pale Ale between lunchtime and early evening, plus specially created birthday cake and cupcakes by Nicholson's own chefs using the tasty pale ale. In addition the main competition for a trip for two to St. Austell for a brewery tour, including travel and accommodation will take place on the Friday via Facebook.

As a highlight to the festivities Head Brewer of Cornwall-based St Austell brewery Roger Ryman will be visiting some of the conveniently located historic London pubs on Friday 7th May for a series of 'Meet The Brewer' sessions, where guests can sample the ale and ask questions about brewing.

The classic cask conditioned English Pale Ale (4% ABV) is brewed using the finest ingredients, including Cornish Maris Otter malting barley and a hand-picked blend of English and imported hop varieties. Amber in colour its full yet dry palate is balanced by succulent fruity hops making it refreshing and easy to drink.

Giles Codd, Marketing Manager for Nicholson's Pubs said "Nicholson's prides itself on its cask ale experience and promoting innovation within the sector, so we are thrilled with the success of our very own Nicholson's Pale Ale. St Austell has always demonstrated a clear passion for quality which means we have a beer that Nicholson's is proud to recommend and serve, and one that our guests clearly enjoy."

Since its creation the subtle citrus flavours of this delicious ale make it an ideal complement to the pub and dining menu available across Nicholson's Pubs, and even been used in the recipes. Nicholson's Fish and Chips is hand battered in Nicholson's Pale Ale and the creamy warm brie fondue and tasty oak smoked chicken liver pate are both served with the Pale Ale chutney. The warm chocolate brownie is also created with the beer.

Roger Ryman Head Brewer at St Austell's brewery said "As a brewer we're pleased with the success of this collaboration and it's wonderful to have grown such a strong fan base across the brand. We're particularly pleased with the flavours that have been produced to create a moreish and delicious pint that can be enjoyed throughout the evening which has become a firm favourite with Nicholson's guests."
