Pepsi Xtra Cold at Mitchells & Butlers

Customers of a number of Mitchells & Butlers pubs will be amongst the first in the UK to experience Pepsi Xtra Cold, a breakthrough innovation for the on-premise industry that enables draught cola to be served extra cold, extra refreshing and with a perfect taste every time.

Pepsi Xtra Cold is delivered through a Britvic-patented dispense system, providing the perfect balance and consistency of carbonation, syrup mix and temperature to give consumers a flawless cola experience.

The ground-breaking system is being rolled out to outlets across the country starting with Mitchells & Butlers' Toby Carvery and Harvester businesses and is accompanied by a tailored support package to guide pub teams, to help them communicate the proposition to consumers.

Kathryn Holland, Mitchells & Butlers' director of Communications, said: "This new dispense equipment marks a great step forward in improving the quality and consistency of the draught soft drinks we serve.  Draught carbonates are core to the pub offer and continuous innovation in this category is vital to differentiate further the on-trade experience for our customers.  We anticipate that 800 of our businesses will have the new equipment installed by the end of this year."

The new four head bag-in-box (BIB) system is mounted on the bar to provide an impactful and space efficient font design which also heightens the presence of soft drinks in the on-premise environment. The syrup and water are cooled and mixed below the bar rather than in the glass as with traditional cola guns, ensuring the drink is served at the right temperature, taste mix and carbonation.

Paul Linthwaite, director of on-premise at Britvic said: "We believe that Pepsi Xtra Cold will deliver a more premium and consistent draught cola experience for consumers visiting the licensed trade. The introduction of Pepsi Xtra Cold means bar staff will, for the first time, be able to consistently serve a postmix cola or lemonade to packaged quality."
