O'Neill's raises over £40,000 for local charities

As part of a hugely successful St Patrick's week of activities in O'Neill's, every pub chose a local charity to support and raise funds for.

The teams threw themselves into their challenges and hosted a series of events which included Join the Jig dancing, live music events, a Stavros Flatly 'dance-off', as well as riding an exercise bike the width of Ireland.

The central O'Neill's brand team also did their bit too; splitting into two teams, visiting every pub over the Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and facing challenges set by our General Managers. If they succeeded in completing their challenge, the General Manager then gave the team a donation to their chosen charities, the Calvert Trust and the Brain Tumour Charity.

Our General Managers came up with some wacky ideas to keep our brand teams busy! Challenges included Space Hopper races, Man v Food competitions, and riding a horse, dressed as a leprechaun, around Cheltenham racecourse.

In total 45 pubs raised a whopping £33,398.71 in one week, totalled with the central team's fundraising amounts the grand total raised by O'Neill's was over £40,000!

A big thank you to all those involved in the event and raising funds for such worthy causes!

Mitchells & Butlers raises over £3,000 for MS UK!

Over the past six months the Product Programme team at Mitchells & Butlers have given their time and efforts to raise over £3,000 for the charity MS UK, one of the leading charities supporting those who are affected by multiple sclerosis.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a neurological condition which affects around 100,000 people in the UK, most people are diagnosed between the ages of 20-40, but it can affect younger and older people too. The Product Programme team have personally experienced the impact of this condition, and were keen to raise funds for the charity, which makes a difference to the challenges that are faced by sufferers and their families.

The team organised a series of events, from cake sales at our Head Office, to a charity raffle with some great prizes, such as an IPod Touch, Alton Towers tickets and a James Martin Hamper. The grand finale to their fundraising was eight members of the team taking part in the London Bupa 10k, which started on the Mall, and finished in front of Buckingham Palace. Their impressive efforts earned overwhelming support from friends and family who donated to their cause generously.

Their original fundraising target was set at £2,000, which was no mean feat - however the team managed to smash through that total and raise a magnificent total of £3,585 to help MS UK!
