Bridget Jones was back on the silver screen last month after much anticipation. This beloved rom-com is the epitome of London-life, and the fourth instalment of the series features some of the most iconic sights in the capital. Amongst them is The Spaniards Inn, which was proud to open its doors to the Bridget Jones: Mad About a Boy crew, including Renee Zellweger who is depicted in the film navigating life as a single mother following the tragic loss of her husband, Mark Darcy.

Producers of the film carefully selected filming locations to pay homage to Bridget’s London roots, including several of Hampstead’s most loved establishments. As such, The Spaniards Inn is featured as the backdrop to the most prominent moment at the end of the film when Mr Wallaker professes his love for Bridget Jones during a romantic, winter scene.

The filming was a large-scale operation managed by our team on the ground, and featured road closures, carefully placed lampposts and a plethora of fake snow.

Built in 1585 by two Spanish brothers, our iconic Grade II listed London pub has also served as inspiration to the great Charles Dickens and John Keats. Close to Hampstead Village and Parliament Hill, you may still bump into a modern-day celebrity or two, enjoying a pint in our beautiful garden.
